Update on May 19, 2023
The chlorine injector at the Water Plant has been repaired and we are making chlorinated water again. However, the Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory remains in place. In order to be lifted we must pass two consecutive water tests which are conducted by the Water Security Agency. We will keep updating social media, the Town website and our Resident Email System as soon as new information becomes available.

The reduction measures have been removed so residents can resume their regular usage including watering your plants and lawn. Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this time.

A Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory (PDWA) is currently in place for The Town of Indian Head. This advisory is for the entire community and for any individuals who may access water from the Town of Indian Head water system. The chlorine injector is not operating at the Water Treatment Plant preventing disinfection of the water supply. Until the issue is resolved and the Town can confirm the water is safe for consumption the PDWA will remain in effect. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and will keep you updated as this work progresses.
In addition to the following steps, please consider restricting water use such a refraining from watering grass, washing vehicles and any other water uses that can wait until the PDWA has been lifted.

Boil water for at least 1 minute prior to use. This include for drinking purposes, washing of fruits and vegetables and brushing teeth. Do not drink from any public drinking fountains supplied with water from the public water supply. Use an alternative water source known to be safe.
