Update: SAMA will be in town this week to do training for their physical inspections. You may see their staff going door to door and walking around properties. They will be in a marked SAMA vehicle and have name tags.
The provincial government mandates the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) to conduct periodic revaluations of all Saskatchewan properties every four years to coincide with the change to a new base date. The assessments that you are receiving now are from the 2025 revaluations, using a 2023 base date.
What this means is that your property has been assessed based on the value of properties on January 1, 2023. When a revaluation is completed, SAMA provides new values to each municipality. Provincial legislation requires municipalities to use these values when determining taxes.
These assessments are not related to the questionnaire you filled out in the spring. The questionnaire is related to a physical reinspection which will be completed in the summer.
