The Town of Indian Head

The Indian Head Horticultural Society invites town and rural residents of Indian Head to participate in the Home Grounds and Gardens Competition.

The Horticultural Society is a community group with deep-rooted history in Indian Head. It was inaugurated on November 10, 1926 (96 years ago!). Then and now, our aim is to stimulate a love of gardening in the community. The Home Grounds and Gardens Competition takes place in early August in conjunction with our annual Garden Show. The goal of the competition is to encourage civic pride and to recognize residents who contribute to the beautification of our community. Judging is based on design and attractiveness, variety and plant choice, tidiness, and vigour.

Residents may participate in any number of categories, as indicated on the attached entry form. Contact information is included on the entry form if you would like more information about judging. We encourage residents to enter themselves or nominate their neighbours or favourite properties (with permission from the owner or resident). We are specifically requesting nominations for the award of Best Newly Landscaped Yard (less than 5 years old).
